PlanckLabs policies

Privacy Policy

Effective August 18, 2026

This policy explains what PlanckLabs collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you create or update an account, including your name, email address, username, country, mobile number, optional profile information, and a securely hashed password when you create one. If you continue with Google, we receive your verified email address, basic profile details, and Google's stable account identifier. PlanckLabs does not store Google's OAuth access token, refresh token, or ID token.

We also record information needed to provide the learning experience, including whether a mobile number has been verified, a pending number during verification, course enrollments, optional email and SMS delivery preferences, scheduled-notification jobs, questions marked complete, AI Tutor conversations, optional voice recordings, speech transcripts, and basic interaction history. One-time verification codes are checked by our messaging provider and are not stored by PlanckLabs. When you visit PlanckLabs, we may collect technical information such as IP address, browser information, referral parameters, and page activity for security, operation, and product improvement.

Text messages and mobile information

PlanckLabs may send a one-time code when you ask to verify or change your mobile number. Verification confirms access to that number at that time; it does not enroll you in recurring course texts.

Course access does not require SMS consent. If you separately and explicitly opt in while enrolling, PlanckLabs uses the mobile number already displayed on the enrollment form to send recurring automated practice links and a course-completion notice. Message frequency varies by course and is limited to no more than one practice text per day, plus a course-completion message. Message and data rates may apply.

You can reply STOP to disable SMS or HELP for help. STOP cancels pending practice texts and turns off SMS for the active enrollment; it does not remove your course, block web access, or disable email reminders you separately requested. You can continue at Today’s practice. Leaving the active course cancels all of that course’s pending reminders.

We do not sell mobile numbers or text-message consent data. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We disclose mobile information only to service providers needed to deliver and operate the messaging service, or when required by law. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for their own marketing.

How we use information

  • Provide and secure your account.
  • Deliver courses, daily practice links, worked solutions, and optional practice emails you request.
  • Provide contextual AI Tutor responses and preserve your conversation history.
  • Transcribe optional voice input into an editable draft and evaluate transcription quality.
  • Schedule, deliver, troubleshoot, and stop optional email and SMS reminders.
  • Understand reliability and product usage, prevent abuse, and improve PlanckLabs.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

Service providers

We use service providers to operate PlanckLabs, including Google Identity for optional account sign-in, hosting and database providers, Google Cloud Storage for private voice recordings, Twilio for text messaging, an email delivery provider, OpenAI for transcription and the AI Tutor, Redis-backed background processing, and IPInfo for coarse IP-location enrichment. These providers process information on our behalf under their own contractual and security obligations.

AI Tutor

When you use the AI Tutor, your message, the current question, its worked solution, and recent conversation context are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. Do not place sensitive personal information in tutor messages. Tutor conversations and related model metadata may be stored so the conversation can continue across sessions and so we can operate and improve the feature.

If you choose voice input, PlanckLabs records and stores the audio and processes it to create an editable transcript in the tutor message field. The transcript is not sent to the AI Tutor until you review it and press Send. Recordings and processing results may also be retained to evaluate and improve transcription quality. Voice input is optional, and tutor replies are currently text only.

Retention and security

We retain information, including voice recordings you choose to submit, for as long as reasonably necessary to provide PlanckLabs, evaluate feature quality, keep required records, resolve disputes, and protect the service. Voice recordings are stored separately from the application database in private object storage. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can update supported profile fields and verify or change your mobile number from your account, use a course without any reminders, leave an active course to cancel all pending reminders, or reply STOP to disable SMS while keeping the course. When changing a verified number, you can choose whether pending active-course SMS reminders move to the new number or are turned off. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your account information, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.

Children

PlanckLabs is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information without appropriate permission.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as PlanckLabs changes. We will post the revised policy here with a new effective date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hbar@plancklabs.io.
